Chemistry Experiments

Chemistry Experiments

Dive into chemistry and become a lab technician for a day.

Would you like to discover for yourself how exciting the world of chemistry and the port is? Step into Portlantis’ chemistry lab and take part in the children’s workshop ‘Chemistry in the port’.

Put on your lab coat, slip on your safety goggles and join your brother(s), sister(s) or friend(s) to discover, smell, mix and, above all, have fun! Oh, by the way, parents and other adults are also welcome.

Did you know that the port is much more than just the place where your food, clothing, or games come from? Important raw materials are also produced in the port. Raw materials needed to make things you’ve probably never even thought about. These might include medicines, airbags and even the frames of your dad’s glasses.

During this special children’s workshop, you’ll discover how surprising the world of chemistry is. You’ll get to work on fun experiments, such as making your own hair gel or mixing colourful bath salts. As you experiment, you’ll learn in a playful way how to combine different fabrics to create a new fabric. Just like in the port!
